The swimming baths (pool) is shown here circa 1966. The water at the lower right is part of the old moat around the fortifications of old Gosport. The origins of the pool are from a section of the moat sealed off to create the swimming area. The boating lake and model yacht huts are on the upper left. Looking from the upper centre across to the right are the rear of The Ritz cinema, the labour exchange (of which part is still there), the Connaught Drill Hall, the main library, the old town hall and finally the Portland stone façade of the gas company building in the high street.
