The station, which was constructed in 1841 is shown here in 1938. The main canopy would later be destroyed in an air raid during World War 2 and replaced with the one familiar to residents who recall seeing this building before conversion into housing. A locomotive is travelling slowly across to Clarence Yard. The Railway pub is on the far right.
