This scene was developed to show the extent of the fortifications around the old town of Gosport. The moat and bastions can be seen running through the current recreation field of St George barracks. Gosport Technical School and Library, (built in 1901) at the centre is almost unchanged. On the left is the site that would be used to build The Ritz cinema in 1937 next to the Conservative Club. At the lower left is the top of the Connaught Drill Hall (built 1901. Demolished 1960s). The old Thorngate Hall roof is at the lower right The main gas board showroom is the Portland stone façade building on the right.
