This scene is set at Haslar, or more specifically, HMS Hornet on Friday the 22nd June 1945. It shows three German E Boats (named E for enemy by the Allies, but the correct terminology is S 100 where the S stands for Schnellboot and these model are the last variant namely 100) arriving at HMS Hornet to be handed over to the Royal Navy several weeks after end of the Second World War. The Kriegsmarine (German Navy) crews are seen walking along the pontoons toward the waiting military vehicles on the left of the image as the last boat heads towards its docking point alongside the other two. The famous “Pneumonia Bridge” is on the right sight in its position on the original bridge across Haslar lake.
