The entrance to Portsmouth Harbour in 1900. HMS Implacable passes Fort Blockhouse, a mining warfare establishment that would become HMS Dolphin. The references for this fort have been worked out from the original building plans and other sources. A lot of it is still there today but is masked by the addition for buildings over the years and the removal of the gate and filling in of the moat as HMS Dolphin expanded. Gosport waterfront is on the left. Old Portsmouth is visible on the far right and the front of the Dockyard in the centre. The older wooden warships at anchor in the harbour are HMS St Vincent and HMS Victory.
